Uttarakhand showing its sporting mettle in the ongoing 37th National Games being played in Goa, Nikhil Bharti from Rudrapur of Udham Singh Nagar district has clinched the first gold for Uttarakhand in the 55-60 kg weight category of Pencak Silat when he beat the player from Maharashtra by the score of 41-29 in the final match. Earlier, the woman player Kirti Gosain from Ramnagar Nainital won the bronze medal by beating the player from Madhya Pradesh in the quarterfinal of 80 to 85 kg weight category of Pencak Silat event. Besides, Gayatri Negi from Uttarakhand won the bronze medal in the 45-50 kg weight category in the Pencak Silat event. So far, in this national level competition, Uttarakhand has presented a good show by winning one gold and three bronze medals. Uttarakhand may host the next edition of the National Games.
