Thousands of people gathered at the Parade Ground since morning on Saturday to see the head of Bageshwar Dham Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Dham Baba, who reached Dehradun to attend a programme late in the evening. The area around the Parade Ground remained a zero zone and traffic remained diverted since noon on various routes across the city.
Many police personnel were also deployed across the city to ensure proper security arrangements. Several youngsters, unemployed youths and the members of Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) also arrived at the event stating they want Bageshwar Dham Baba to reveal the name of the VIP involved in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. They said that they also want to talk about their demand for CBI inquiry into recruitment scams in the State.
The members of UBS Ram Kandwal said, “We have heard great things about Bageshwar Dham Baba. I want him to call our names or at least reveal the name of the VIP because of whom Ankita was killed. We will remain seated here till he calls out our names and talks about these issues.” However, Shastri had not reached the venue till 7 PM when this correspondent was filing this report.
Many of his followers, who had been waiting for him for hours, also appeared disappointed as he was expected to reach the venue at 4 PM as per the schedule. However, many people also seemed excited to see Baba for the first time and said that it was okay for them to wait for a few extra hours.
