In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Nainital district police have deployed Rapid Action Force along with India Reserve Battalion, Provincial Armed Constabulary and the district police force personnel in large numbers to maintain law and order during the student union election slated to be held in universities and colleges. Speaking on the matter, SP City Haldwani Harbans Singh said that the police have made fool-proof arrangements to ensure peaceful and impartial student union elections in the MB Government Post-Graduate College in the town which is the biggest college in Kumaon division of the State where around 8,000 students would cast votes. “We will divert traffic from the tri-junction on the Nainiital highway near the college during the election. Plus, we have put a ban on victory rallies post the counting,” he added. Notably, polling would be held to 10 posts, including the president and vice president, from 9 am to 2 pm to be followed by counting of votes.
