No entry for vehicles in marketplaces

Dehradun police issued a new traffic plan on Friday to streamline the traffic on the weekend on the occasion of Deepawali. The police have also formed teams to ensure proper security arrangements during Deepawali celebrations. There will be a complete zero zone for all types of vehicles at busy marketplaces like Paltan Bazaar, Dhamawala Bazaar, Machhi Bazaar and Pipalmandi, among other locations. Only pedestrians will be allowed to enter in such places said the officials. In case of intense traffic pressure at Survey Chowk, the traffic arriving from Raipur will be diverted from Curzon Road junction towards the Municipal Road. Similarly, the traffic coming from Rajpur Road will be diverted from Orient Chowk towards Kanak Chowk and the traffic coming from Darshanlal towards Clock Tower will be diverted towards Lansdowne Chowk in case of heavy traffic near Clock Tower. In case of traffic pressure at Dharampur Chowk, the traffic from Mata Mandir Road will be diverted towards Race Course. The police will install barriers at Raja Road, Darshanigate in front of Saharanpur Chowk, Saharanpur Chowk towards Kanwali, Near Tehsil and Tehsil Chowk, Buddha Chowk, Darshan Lal Chowk, Clock Tower, Orient Chowk and Survey Chowk. The officials informed that Vikrams arriving from Rajpur Road to Orient Chowk will be sent back towards Rajpur from Globe Chowk via Pacific junction, Subhash Road and via Beni Bazaar. Vikrams arriving from Raipur Road to Darshanlal Chowk will be sent back towards Raipur from Survey Chowk. However, in case of normal traffic situation, Vikrams will operate as per usual schedule. Vehicles related to essential services will not be stopped or diverted. The police have also made arrangements for parking for vehicles arriving from Subhash Road, Dharampur, Chakrata Road and Rajpur Road to ensure vehicles do not enter busy marketplaces. The officials said that the parking unit will monitor proper parking of vehicles in Dehradun. The traffic police will also use drones to take action against vehicles parked in no-parking zones and streamline the traffic system through drones.
