One man was shot dead and another was injured when two men in a car allegedly opened fire on them following an argument in the Dakpatthar area of Dehradun district on Saturday. Police informed that Dument residents Baghel Singh and Atul Singh were shot by two men on the Dument-Hadwal Road following an argument. The injured duo was taken to the nearby hospital where Baghel Singh died during treatment.
According to the police, the two accused abandoned their car on the site due to the crowd and escaped on a scooty. Information has also been received about one of their accomplices standing a little far from the scene of the incident when the crime was committed. On being informed about the incident, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh and other police officers reached the site.
Singh inspected the site and sought information about the incident. He also formed separate police teams to nab the accused. The police said that prima facie, no old dispute has come to light between the accused and the two men shot by them. The people around the scene of the crime and an aged lady whom the accused had asked some questions and also argued with, have no land dispute in their family, the police said.
