Rain and snowfall likely in mountainous regions today

The weather in the State is likely to take a turn on Sunday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts with the possibility of snowfall in places situated at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State on Sunday. The rain and snowfall in the mountains is expected to result in a drop in the temperatures in the plains of the State also.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky today with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 26 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places of the State on Saturday were 27.8 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 27.5 degrees Celsius and 8.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.3 degrees Celsius and 7.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.1 degrees Celsius and 7.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
It is pertinent to mention here that the maximum temperatures in most locations in the plains and also some mountainous regions of the State have remained above normal. If rain and snowfall are experienced in the mountainous areas, the weather is expected to get colder in both the mountainous and plain regions of the State.
