The additional director general (ADG) of police, (Information and Security) Abhinav Kumar will be the new officiating director general police (DGP) of Uttarakhand. He will take charge of DGP from the outgoing DGP Ashok Kumar (1989 batch IPS officer) on Thursday afternoon. The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi issued the order on Wednesday stating that ADG will handle the additional charge of DGP along with the present charge from December 1 till further orders. ADG Abhinav Kumar is an IPS officer of the 1996 batch. He is presently serving as special principal secretary to the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and ADG Security and Intelligence. He has also served as SSP of many districts like Dehradun and Haridwar besides holding the post of IG Garhwal range. He will be the 12th DGP of the State.
