Murder accused with Rs 1 L bounty arrested

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the day Abhinav Kumar assumed charge as the DGP of Uttarakhand and directed the police brass in his inaugural address to go all-out to capture the bounty criminals, gangsters and narcotics smugglers, the Special Task Force (STF) nabbed a murder accused- who, while carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000, remained fugitive for five years- from Ramjiwala village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. Sharing details, the senior superintendent of police STF Ayush Agarwal said that the accused identified as Vir Singh along with two others had murdered a man by bludgeoning his head with a heavy object in Labour Colony in Hardwar on August 10, 2018. Haridwar police had later arrested one of the three accused while two others remained at large. Police had announced bounty of Rs 50,000 for the arrest of each. During interrogation, Vir Singh is learnt to have told police that he had taken the garb of a sadhu and kept staying in temples in UP to evade arrest by police.
