Sonika appoints zonal officers, nodal officers for Doon’s sanitation

Assuming charge as the administrator of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), district magistrate Sonika divided the area under the corporation into four zones and appointed zonal officers for each zone to ensure the desired level of sanitation for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Dehradun later this week. She also appointed additional district magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Ramjisharan Sharma as the nodal officer for effective supervision of the sanitation system in the entire city.
According to officials, the additional municipal commissioner Veer Singh Budhiyal has been made for the zonal officer for the area from Rispana bridge to Nehru Colony, Dharampur, Araghar Chowk, Prince Chowk, Darshini Gate, Adhat Bazaar, Police Lines, Survey Chowk, Bahal Chowk, Buddha Chowk, Dharshanlal Chowk, Tibetan Market and Parade Ground. Deputy municipal commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal has been made the zonal officer for the area from Asharodi to ISBT- Kargi- Saharanpur Chowk, Kargi to Rispana bridge- Harrawala, Araghar to Matamandir Road and Doon University, Mothrowala.
Similarly, deputy municipal commissioner Rohitash Sharma has been made the zonal officer for the area from Clock Tower to Chakrata Road, Bindal bridge, Kishannagar Chowk, Ballupur Chowk, Sahastradhara helipad, Sahastradhara crossing, Survey Chowk to Raipur and Thano Road. The chief municipal health officer Dr Avinash Khanna has been made the zonal officer for the area from ISBT to Niranjanpur Mandi, Niranjanpur Mandi to Survey Chowk, Ballupur Chowk to Forest Research Institute and from Dilaram Bazaar to the chief minister’s residence.
Sonika said that these officials will be fully responsible for ensuring the desired level of sanitation in their respective areas. They will make daily site inspections and submit their daily report in the district disaster operations centre control room. There should not be any trash, plastic and dust on the roads and footpaths while the roadside dustbins should be emptied daily in the morning, she added.
