The Union Bank of India (UBI) has been awarded the International Banking System Intelligence (IBSi) Global FinTech Innovation Award 2023 in the category of Best Digital Channel/Platform Implementation. The award recognises UBI’s conversational banking initiative, which includes the Union Virtual Connect (UVConn) platform offering a wide range of banking services in seven different languages. More than 250 nominations from 106 banks across 49 countries were received for the award which is aimed at acknowledging financial institutions and technology players for their excellence in implementing banking technology and utilising emerging technologies to drive impact.
Dwelling on receiving the award, UBI executive director Nitesh Ranjan said that the conversational banking initiative by the bank represents a progression in customer service. The award serves as an acknowledgment of the bank’s commitment to utilising technology to improve the customer experience, he said.
Chief technology officer of UBI Anil Kuril said, “The development of Union virtual connect and Union voice assistant is a result of the bank’s endeavours to create inclusive and user-friendly banking services. This recognition further validates the bank’s efforts to redefine the banking industry through the strategic implementation of technology. The Bank intends to continue leveraging technology and exploring new opportunities in the banking sector, presenting innovative and customer-centric solutions.”
