In latest news from Uttarakhand, on the directive of the district magistrate Vandana Singh, senior government officers led by the District Development Authority secretary Pankaj Upadhyay conducted on–site inspection of the ongoing road widening and beautification works involving the main intersection of Nainital town being done by the Public Works Department. After the inspection, Upadhyay said that it was warranted by problems the people were facing at some places due to the ongoing road-related works. He further said that these problems would be solved before the approach of the next tourism season. “We have to ensure that the tourists will not face any traffic congestion problem while in Nainital,” he added. Further, he directed the PWD officers to remove all the make-shift shops along the Mall Road. “The PWD officers will send notice to the encroachers first and then will have the encroachments removed in a week,” Upadhyay said.
