2, including a Nepali national, nabbed for making country liquor

Uttarkashi police and revenue police in a joint operation conducted raids in the forest of Khauliya village in Dhanari in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and seized 50 litres of country liquor from two persons, including a Nepali national.
Sharing details of the operation, the superintendent of police Uttarkashi, Arpan Yaduvanshi said that he had entrusted the station house officer (SHO) Kotwali, Dinesh Kumar with the task of investigating the case related to country liquor manufacturing. “Acting on a tip-off from intelligence that some people were making liquor in the forest of Khauliya village in Dhanari, he led the operation along with revenue police personnel. The duo, arrested during the raid, have been identified as Ramesh Singh, resident of village Kholia Dhanari Dunda, Uttarkashi and Balbahadur, resident of village Mahendra Nagar, Kathmandu, Nepal. Fifty litres of illegal liquor along with equipment used for distilling were recovered from their possession,” he added.
The duo during interrogation had confessed that they had remained engaged in making and selling raw liquor in the nearby villages for some years, police said and added that Balbahadur lived in a rented house in Uttarkashi. Police have registered a case against the duo under the Excise Act. The SP Uttarkashi averred that they would continue to conduct operations to eliminate the illegal liquor menace from the district.
