In latest news from Uttarakhand, while tearing into the police department for working as an instrument of the authoritarian State government, the Haldwani MLA Sumit Hridayesh said that they are targeting the common people, particularly the traders and farmers. In a statement released to the media, the Congress leader said that many shops in Haldwani’s main market are about to be demolished and if that happens the shop owners who have been earning their livelihood through these shops for years would be deprived of their means of livelihood. Besides, under the garb of Uttarakhand Real Estate Regulatory Authority, they are snatching dues from the farmers. He averred that his party is standing solidly with the people who are at the receiving end of the government and police atrocities and would continue to stand by them in future.
