A senior doctor Neeraj Rai of sub district hospital in Pauri’s Srinagar died in a road accident on Monday morning. The accident occurred on the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway under Tehri’s Kirtinagar police station area when Rai’s car collided with a dumper coming from the opposite direction near Rampur.
The car got severely damaged and it took significant time for the locals and authorities to retrieve Rai from inside the car, as per the officials. They said that Rai was pulled out of the car with great difficulty and taken to the nearby base hospital in Srinagar where the doctors declared him as brought dead. The officials said that the police informed the deceased’s family but did not receive any complaint till the evening.
The police have taken possession of the dumper and will carry out further proceedings after registering a complaint in the matter, officials added. They said that Rai died due to severe chest and brain injuries and other details will be known only after getting the post mortem report. The officials informed that the deceased was going to Srinagar from Rishikesh to join his duty on Monday when he met with the accident
