Two school students on Monday got a chance to become traffic and CPU inspectors for a day to handle the traffic in Dehradun under the 34th Road Safety Month campaign of police. The class XI student Pranjal was the traffic inspector and class VIII student Abhay was the CPU inspector under the Junior Traffic Cop programme of the campaign. They managed traffic near Clock Tower with the help of traffic police and raised awareness about traffic rules among commuters.
They both were selected on January 24 when the traffic police organised a traffic rules related quiz in a school near the police line and these two won. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the main objective of organising such events in Road Safety Month is to develop knowledge about traffic rules among the general public. Besides this, the involvement of children and students will also encourage their counterparts to know about traffic rules and implement them in their daily lives, SSP added
