In latest news from Doon, amidst the deafening chanting of Jai Sri Ram and Vande Mataram by the BJP members, when the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was tabling the contentious Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the house on the second day of the special session the opposition members stood up en masse, raising procedural objections. As the Speaker Ritu Khanduri asked the opposition members to speak, the leader of the opposition Yaspal Arya said that the session was mired in blatant violation of the long-standing procedures.   While objecting to the session being held sans the question hour, he said that the members had been deprived of the opportunity of asking questions on a matter of crucial importance for the people of the State. Hitting out at the ruling party, he said that their voices were being gagged. “If we cannot speak here where would we go?” he asked. He also sought more time to first go through the provisions enshrined in the bill and then participate in the discussion in the house.
