No society can develop without contribution of women: Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took out a massive road-show in the Gauchar town of Chamoli district on Thursday. After the road show the CM participated in the Nanda Gaura Mahotsav organised at the Mela ground in Gauchar. Addressing the programme the CM said that Nanda Devi is worshipped in both Garhwal and Kumaon regions of the State. He said that Nanda is considered as a Dhyann (daughter) by the people and the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra is organised every 12 years from Kurud in Chamoli to Kailash. The CM said that the State government is committed to women empowerment. He said that the State government has fulfilled the promise made to the people of the State by getting the bill on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) passed in the State assembly.
The CM said that the UCC is in the interest of all the people of the State. He said that no society or country can develop without cooperation of women. The women are providing momentum to the cottage industry by making self help groups (SHGs) in remote areas of the State. He said that the women are highly skilled and these skills are now helping them in becoming economically stronger. The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened bank accounts of 23 crore women in the country and now every type of subsidy is directly getting transferred into their bank accounts. The State government has provided 30 per cent reservation to the women of the state in government jobs and has undertaken many welfare schemes for the women.
The CM said that the State government has adopted the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’.
He said that Uttarakhand became the first State in the country to implement a stringent anti-copying law. Similarly a law to prevent religious conversions was made and for the first time firm and effective action against Land Jihad was taken.
In the programme the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of the development projects worth Rs 400 crore for the Chamoli district. The CM viewed the stalls showcasing local products and said that the traditional handicraft items, carpets, Daukha, caps and shawls should be publicised. He said that more and more outlets on Yatra routes should be opened for the purpose. He also distributed cheques to the beneficiaries of various schemes and felicitated many women doing exceptional work in their field.
Speaking on the occasion the minister in charge of Chamoli district Dhan Singh Rawat said that the health services are being strengthened in the State. He said that the task of filling vacant posts of doctors in the hospitals was achieved during the term of the Dhami government.
The Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat said that historic works under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Dhami are being undertaken in Uttarakhand.
Karnprayag MLA Anil Nautiyal, Tharali MLA BR Tamta, position holder Ramesh Gadia, Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and others were present on the occasion.
