In latest news from Uttarakhand, Nainital police busted a prostitution racket operating from a room in the Kalawati Colony under Haldwani kotowali limits and nabbed two women and one man. Besides, the police team rescued a young woman who is believed to have been coerced into the sex trade. As per police sources, a woman identified as Tania Sheikh had been operating the sex trade from the room she had taken on rent for Rs 12,000 per month. Another woman identified as Sharifa Begum allegedly used to supply Tania with young women for the sex trade. When, acting on tip-off, the police team from Haldwani Kotowali forced themselves into the room they found a man involved in obscene act. The man was arrested and the young woman hailing from West Bengal was rescued. Later, police took the principal operator of the racket Tania into custody and in course of grilling her, they found details of the prostitution trade. Police further said that the house owner had been slapped with a fine of Rs 5,000 for not doing the tenant verification process mandated by police.
