Jamrani dam construction to begin soon: Maharaj

Approval in principle has been granted for the no-objection certificate from the National Tiger Conservation Authority for the Jamrani dam project in the meeting of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) standing committee. Informing about this, Irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj said that all obstacles to this project have been resolved and that construction of the dam will begin soon.
He said that approval had been granted in October last year to include this project in the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) in the meeting of the cabinet committee on economic affairs chaired by the Prime Minister. Maharaj said that the approval in principle to the NTCA NOC was granted in the MoEFCC standing committee meeting held earlier in January. With this, all formalities have been completed for construction of this important project on the Gaula river in Nainital district.
The minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union minister Bhupendra Yadav and Union minister of State Ajay Bhatt for this development.
