Cops tip students on cyber security

In latest news from Uttarakhand, taking note of the spate in cybercrimes/online frauds, the Cyber Cell and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Uttarkashi police orgainsed a cyber awareness programme at the Government Inter College Gangori during which the students were provided with the cyber helpline number (1930/9456591505) and important cyber security tips. Expressing concern on the spurt in such cases, the in-charge of the social media cell of the district police Kedar Singh Chauhan said that they would carry on such awareness programmes in time to come to keep the students and others safe from online fraudsters. The students were told to not share their OTP with anyone and not receive video calls and view messages on WhatsApp or other online platforms coming from unknown numbers. They were alerted also against clicking unknown links received through mail, voice cloning, fake loan apps and the like. The police team asked the students to inform them immediately on coming across any cyber/financial fraud case.
The principal of the college conveyed gratitude to the police team for initiating such an awareness programme, saying that the students must be on their guard about cyber security in this digital era fraught with surging cyber frauds.
