In latest news from Doon, a few months after Ashok Kumar retired as the director general of police Uttarakhand, he has been new appointment as the vice-chancellor of the Motilal Nehru Sports University in Sonipat in Haryana. It is learnt that the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar selected the former IPS officer for the post, given his and his family’s deep association with the realm of sports. Notably, while he became the champion in the All India Police Badminton Tournament, his daughter Koohu Garg, an ace badminton player herself, has won a number of international medals. Besides, his wife Alaknanda is the joint secretary of Indian Olympic Association.
