The three-day Vasantotsav-2024 concluded at the Raj Bhawan on Sunday with a cultural programme and distribution of prizes to winners in various categories. ONGC won the running trophy this year. The ONGC won prizes in five categories while IIT Roorkee won in four categories. A total of 153 prizes were awarded to winners in 53 sub categories under 15 categories on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh said that the enthusiasm of people despite the rainy weather was commendable this year. By participating in large numbers, the people made this celebration of spring a festival of the masses. About three lakh people participated in the Vasantotsav this year. Singh further said that flowers will play a role in boosting the State’s economy and enhancing prosperity. The flowers cultivated in Uttarakhand have established a unique identity from the local to the global level, he added.
Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi said that a record number of people participated in the Vasantotsav this year. The State government is making consistent efforts to double the income of farmers through agriculture and horticulture. Various folk dances and other presentations were performed in the cultural evening which marked the conclusion of Vasantotsav.
