Acting on the instruction of the Election Commission, Uttarkashi police have constituted Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) to facilitate free, fair and peaceful Lok Sabha election drawing near. The superintendent of police Uttarkashi Arpan Yaduvanshi said that following the constitution of the teams, members had been trained too. Notably, FST and SST teams are mandated to monitor election-related activities in their designated areas. While FST checks election vehicles and violations of Election Commission rules like distribution of election gifts among others, SST checks cases of drug peddling, smuggling of illegal weapons and intimidation of and discrimination against voters. During the training, the personnel were instructed on how to exercise vigil on and act against suspicious activities. They were also asked to report any violation of the election commission rules to higher authorities immediately on detection
