Decks are being cleared for Song project: Maharaj

In latest news from Doon, the State irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj said that decks are being cleared for the Song Dam Drinking Water Project which would involve an estimated cost of Rs 2491.96 crore at the price level of 2023. Elaborating, he said that all types of technical approvals, inter-state and international clearance, national wildlife clearance and environmental clearance have been obtained for it, adding that when constructed, it would facilitate drinking water supply of 150 MLD ( 1.75 cumec ) to Dehradun city and adjoining areas. Notably, it will be financed under Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure of the Government of India. The project which has two components is proposed to be constructed in five years. The minister further said that some people are to be affected by the land acquisition for the dam construction and the government’s rehabilitation scheme- formulated as per the provisions of the rehabilitation policy- has been approved by the authorities concerned.
