The Transport department is making an online portal for eligible applicants to be the beneficiaries of capital subsidies provided by the government to buy cleaned fuelled vehicles under the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transition Policy 2024.
The regional transport officer (Administration) of the Dehradun division Sunil Sharma said that applicants will get the benefits of becoming beneficiaries on a first come first serve basis. He said that after receiving the application for a grant, the department will transfer the amount to the bank account of eligible beneficiaries within 72 hours of purchasing the new clean fuelled vehicle and obtaining the required registration and permit. If the applicant is scrapping their vehicle, it will be mandatory for the vehicle owner to provide all the necessary documents as per the rules to get the maximum benefit of subsidies, he added. He said that the process is the same for Vikram and bus owners. However, if four Vikram owners scrap their vehicles and cancel their permits, they can apply together to get a permit to operate a bus.
The RTO said that the department will give permits to operate buses and mini buses at present. The department will immediately issue permits on a first come first serve basis to ensure the operation of public transport on the routes as soon as possible. Interested people can contact the permit in- charge Vinod Chamoli in room number 22 in the regional transport office on Rajpur Road in Dehradun, Sharma added.
