Sabhikhi Cup-2024, the six-day long sports meet of the trainees of the six prominent Officer Training Academies (OTAs) of the army, navy and the air force organised at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), here ended on Saturday.
The event saw participation of teams from National Defence Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, OTA Chennai, OTA Gaya, Air Force Academy (AFA) Hyderabad and Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. The aim of the sports meet was to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition between all the military academies of the armed forces, transcending all regional and institutional boundaries. All heads of the participating institutions attended the event. Various sports including hockey, basketball, cross country, tennis, squash, volleyball and football were organised during the event. The IMA was declared the overall winner and was the recipient of the coveted ‘Sabhikhi Cup- 2024.
The sports meet, previously known as Hexagonal meet, was renamed Sabhikhi Cup in 1991 after the then commandant of NDA, air marshal DS Sabhikhi.
