Nomination filing process for 5 LS seats of U’khand ends
Union Minister of State Ajay Bhatt, Cong candidates Godiyal, Rawat, Joshi and Tamta filed papers on the last day

The process of filing nomination papers for the five Lok Sabha seats of Uttarakhand ended on Wednesday with a large number of candidates filing their papers. Congress party candidates from Garhwal, Haridwar, Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar and Almora (SC) constituencies filed their nomination papers on the day. The BJP candidate from the Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar Ajay Bahtt also filed his nomination on Wednesday.
In Pauri, the Congress candidate Godiyal filed his papers with a huge procession of supporters. After filing his papers Godiyal addressed a well attended rally at Ramlila Ground. He said that the BJP is determined to block his way but the people of Garhwal have made up their mind to send him to the parliament. Evoking his son of the soil credentials, Godiyal said that he understands the problems of the area better than the BJP candidate.
The returning officer of Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency and Pauri district magistrate Ashish Chauhan said that five candidates filed their nomination on Wednesday, which include congress candidate Godiyal, BSP’s Dheer Singh, Bahujan Mukti Party candidate Shyam Lal and two independents. He added that 17 candidates have filed their nomination papers from Garhwal.
In Haridwar, the Congress candidate Virendra Singh Rawat filed his nomination papers. Former chief minister Harish Rawat and a large number of party leaders accompanied Rawat.
In Rudrapur, the BJP candidate from Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar constituency Ajay Bhatt filed his nomination papers. He was accompanied by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and other BJP leaders. The Congress party candidate from this seat Prakash Joshi also filed his nomination papers on the day. He was accompanied by the leader of opposition (LoP) in State assembly Yashpal Arya, deputy leader of Congress in assembly Bhuwan Kapdi, Tilak Raj Behed and others.
The district magistrate of Udham Singh Nagar and returning officer Udai Raj said that ten candidates have filed their nomination papers from Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar constituency. In Almora (SC) constituency, the veteran leader Pradeep Tamta filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate. He was accompanied by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, Dharchula MLA Harish Dhami and others. Addressing the party workers after filing his papers, he said that the people have decided to change the BJP government in the centre.
