In latest news from Uttarakhand, with the second phase of Operation Mukti continuing in Uttarkashi district, the district police- guided by the district superintendent of police- hosted awareness programme in Maneri area and urged the people to cooperate with the administration and police in stopping child begging, child labour, child marriage, bonded labour and substance addiction. This aside, the people present were informed about the heinous crime like women trafficking. Verification of the women from the district married off in other States was also done. Important numbers like police help number 112, child line number 1098, women help number 1090 and cyber help number 1930 were shared with the people.
Under this campaign, awareness sessions are being conducted in various schools, colleges and community centres to alert children and parents about these social evils and the importance of education. Additionally, the Operation Mukti team held meetings with the local traders and shopkeepers and told them why they should refrain from engaging child in legally prohibited works.
