The inspector general of police of Garhwal range Karan Singh Nagnyal along with the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh conducted a briefing session on Thursday to ensure high security, law and order during the visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on April 5. Dhankhar will be on a one-day visit to Dehradun and Mussoorie today. He is scheduled to attend the valedictory ceremony as the chief guest at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.

Considering this schedule, the IG directed the police force deployed on duty to ensure efficient security arrangements on the VVIP route and at the venue. He directed them to reach their duty place three hours before the scheduled time and get the necessary information regarding their duty. They must conduct thorough checking in and around their respective duty place. Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to the senior officials concerned. The police will also conduct checking near the Dehradun airport using a dog squad, Nagnyal said.

The police must also keep a vigilant eye on people meeting VVIPs for security purposes. They will allow only previously nominated persons to enter the venue after anti-sabotage checking as per protocols, he added. The SSP also said that the officer in-charge of the VVIP route must inspect the entire route before the VVIP tour to ensure that there is no construction material lying on the said route and that traffic is clear during the fleet movement on the route. The police will make suitable arrangements to stop the traffic with the help of barricades in routes subjected to severe traffic jams, he added.
