The Indian National Congress has released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha poll 2024 in the presence of the president Mallikarjun Kharge and the two former president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. To counter the BJP’s principal poll plank of Modi Guarantee, the grand old party has pledged 25 Guarantees and five ‘Justice’ (Nyaya). Speaking on the occasion, Kharge said that the manifesto contains welfare and justice-delivering pledges involving several segments of the population like women, youth, farmers and labourers and added that the manifesto of his party is dedicated to the cause of the poor.
The manifesto pledges that if elected, the Congress will provide 10 per cent reservation in jobs for the people from economically weaker sections irrespective of castes. Besides, the 50 per cent cap on the quota for the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes will be further raised through constitutional amendment. Besides, the party will have caste-based census conducted if elected to power.
