In latest news from Dehradun, with the poll mercury rising in Uttarakhand ahead of the April 19 election, the Congress campaign which remains lacklustre in the absence of the star campaigners is set to gain lustre as the party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is hitting the campaign trail on April 13. According to the senior State Congress leader Mathura Dutt Joshi, Priyanka-the most demanded star campaigner- is to canvass for votes for the party candidates in Garhwal and Haridwar seats. However, Rahul Gandhi’s campaign details for the State have not yet been finalised.
With the star campaigners absent from the poll battleground, the State level senior leaders, including Harish Rawat and Pritam Singh, are engaged in the campaign. While Rawat remains rooted in Haridwar where his son Virender is contesting, Singh is canvassing in Garhwal and Haridwar seats.
