Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that the unprecedented development achieved in the nation during the past 10 years could not have been achieved had the leaderless Congress been at the Centre. Addressing the public in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar parliamentary constituency, Ajay Bhatt in Haldwani on Saturday, he exhorted the people to re-elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a third term to ensure much more development.
Addressing a large public gathering, the UP CM said that the Congress gave problems ranging from the partition and insurgency to corruption. “The BJP is a party which provides solutions unlike the Congress. Modern infrastructure including highways, railways and metro rail are being developed across the nation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today’s changing India brings honour to the 140 crore Indians at the global level,” he said.
Speaking about the connection between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, he said that Uttarakhand had given UP three chief ministers including its first- GB Pant along with ND Tiwari and Vijay Bahuguna. “I grew up in Uttarakhand. When chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met me and raised the pending issues between the two States, we resolved all these issues. The rivers which originate here, enter Uttar Pradesh and make it ‘Uttam Pradesh’,” he said.
He further said that earlier in Uttarakhand only nine out of 100 homes had access to tap water and today 90 out of 100 homes have tap water. Adityanath also praised the Uttarakhand government under CM Dhami for the development works and various decisions it had taken. He said, “Only the corrupt and those who pose a threat to citizens have problems with BJP governments. We have made it clear that those who pose a threat to the safety of citizens, especially the women and traders, belong either in jail or hell. Earlier, the criminals used to think that they would commit crimes in UP and escape to Uttarakhand but I will not leave them capable of reaching here and polluting Devbhoomi. There have been no riots in UP and our government is ensuring security and prosperity while also taking our heritage forward. While the Congress even questioned the existence of Lords Ram and Krishna, we have ensured grand development and beautification in Ayodhya, Mathura, Vrindavan and other important pilgrimage centres,” he said. Continuing the attack on the Congress, he said that the Congress was leaderless and that it was the vote of the people for Modi which brought about the desired change in the nation. “A lot has been done but a lot more needs to be done. In order to ensure much more development and to take the nation forward, it is important to have PM Modi heading the government for a third term. I request all of you to vote for the BJP candidates in all the five parliamentary constituencies in Uttarakhand,” he said.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar candidate Ajay Bhatt also addressed the gathering.
