Thunderstorms and light rain likely in parts of State today

Various parts of the State witnessed light rain along with thunder on Friday evening after the end of polling for the Lok Sabha election. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of the State today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts. However, surface winds are expected to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) over isolated places in the State on Sunday.
The meteorological centre has further forecast that the provisional State capital Dehradun will witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky today. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 34.6 degrees Celsius and 20.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.6 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24 degrees Celsius and 11.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24.8 degrees Celsius and 10.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
