In latest news from Uttarakhand, the forest fire spreading fast across the State fanned by wind, it engulfed the civic forest in Dugadda and Jaiharikhal under Lansdowne forest division. The forest team was found grappling with the blaze till late evening.
However, as the forest fire in Jaiharikhal spread and engulfed the forest near the army cantonment, the army personnel swung into action to douse the flame. Though the blaze was controlled to some extent it remained grim in other areas. The Jaiharikhal range forest officers said that the wind and the dry spell exacerbated by mounting mercury were intensifying the forest blaze.
