The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) has extended the admission registration process for the academic session 2024-2025 until May 10. The principal, NIEPVD, Amit Sharma informed on Wednesday that the annual enrolment process for the classes usually begins in February and runs through April. “However, this time the registration process started recently due to less awareness of the registration process among people and some other reasons and the process was slated to end on April 30. Taking this into consideration, we have decided to extend the submission of the registration form to May 10,” he said.

He further informed that till April 30, a little over 200 forms have been submitted to NIEPVD for enrolment. “We expect that more students will register at NIEPVD by the extended date. After the completion of the registration process, a WhatsApp group will be created for the students’ parents to provide training to them. In the training, they will teach parents how to prepare their disabled children for the entrance test which will be conducted in the second week of May,” he said and added that students would be selected for the 34 available seats for all NIEPVD classes.

The registration process is open for visually disabled students from Class I to Class IX along with the Bal Vatika 3 programme. As per the provisions of the National Education Policy 2020, the institute has successfully enrolled 15 visually impaired students under Bal Vatika 3, an educational initiative incorporated in NEP-2020 which focuses on teaching students below Class I various skills such as table manners and orientation among other activities.
