A joint team of the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) and the local police conducted an anti-encroachment drive on Friday in view of the Char Dham Yatra scheduled to commence on May 10. The team had marked these encroachments earlier in the main locations near the Jwalapur area that often cause trouble to tourists and pilgrims. The additional municipal commissioner of Haridwar Ravindra Dayal said that the corporation is gearing up for the Char Dham Yatra and taking all steps to ensure the pilgrims do not have to face any inconvenience here. Considering this, the MCH and the police team removed several encroachments on a stretch from Jatwada Bridge in Jwalapur to Ghas Mandi and Chowk Bazaar besides from Kathera Bazaar, Ansari Market and Shri Ram Chowk. Dayal informed that the MCH seized all the items of encroachers including racks, banners, and signage boards among others and collected a fine of Rs 4,350.
