In latest news from Doon, with the forest blaze spreading its wings across Uttarakhand, it has reached the residences of the Garhwal Commissioner and the vice -chancellor of the Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Srinagar in Pauri district. According to the forest department, 910 fire incidents have been reported so far while 1144 hectares of forest floors have been engulfed. In the past 24 hours, 24 incidents have been reported with 36 hectares having come under the ambit of the blaze. Plus, 351 cases have been lodged so far and 63 persons have been arrested.
Though the impact of the blaze this time is more discernible in Kumaon than in Garhwal the Pauri district is bearing the brunt too with the blaze having entered the hostel of the sports department in Kandolia and burnt down two beds in one of the hostel rooms.
