Five people die in two different incidents

Two men died in Uttarkashi on Monday after a pine tree fell on them during a storm in the afternoon. Earlier, three persons died late on Sunday night when the vehicle they were in fell down the mountainside in Dehradun district. The revenue sub inspector of the Mori Tehsil said that a tree fell on two scooter riders riding from Purola to Mori near Hirara Band on Bhori Motorway around 3:30 PM on Sunday. Both men identified as Prakash Nautiyal (54) and Mohammad Shahid (50) died on the spot and the police sent the bodies to the community health centre for post-mortem. Besides this, a utility vehicle carrying four people lost control and crashed into a gorge near the Chibro Power plant on Koti Road near Kalsi in Dehradun district late on Sunday. Three people died on the spot and one sustained injury. The victims were going from Kalsi to Himachal Pradesh. The officials said that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called to the spot to retrieve the bodies from the gorge. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. The officials said that the three deceased were identified as HP residents Kanwar Singh and Rohit and a Kalsi resident Manmohan. The injured man named Sushil Singh also belongs to HP.
