The Char Dham Yatra will get underway fully today with the reopening of Badrinath temple in Chamoli district. A large number of people have also reached the temple township to attend the reopening of the Badrinath temple.
The portals of Badrinath temple will be opened ritually at 6 AM on Sunday. The Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri temples were reopened to the public on May 10. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) officials have claimed that all necessary arrangements have been made by the committee for the reopening of Badrinath today. The temple has been decked up in many quintals of flowers for the occasion. Thousands of devotees and other people have reached the Badrinath temple township for the reopening of the temple. Donors have arranged for Bhandaras in various places. The weather in Badrinath is cold with the surrounding mountains covered in a thin blanket of snow. However, the snow has melted in the places around the temple and bright sunlight is providing warmth during the daytime.
Earlier, the palanquins of Uddhav and Kuber along with the seat of Adi Shankaracharya reached Badrinath from Pandukeshwar on Saturday morning. The palanquins of the deities were welcomed by devotees showering flowers at Lambagad, Hanumanchatti and near the Badrinath temple. The ritual process for reopening of the Badrinath temple will begin in the wee hours on Sunday.
