Considering the continuous rise in traffic on Char Dham routes, the Uttarakhand chief secretary Radha Raturi directed the Transport department to hold an immediate meeting with tour operators to prevent the operation of vehicles without registration. Stating that the operation of unregistered vehicles and those operating without trip cards are also causing traffic jams, she directed the department to ensure such vehicles are sent back. She directed them to take appropriate action by marking unregistered vehicles at checkpoints established at various places. The CS said that she will also send a letter to the chief secretaries and director generals of police of other states in this regard. She also directed the authorities to register an FIR against those trying to defame Char Dham Yatra by spreading false propaganda about pilgrimage through fake news or videos. Considering the cases of some devotees who are not providing proper information about their medical history during Char Dham registration, Raturi instructed the Health department to strictly focus on health screening of passengers aged above 50 years. The officials informed Raturi that the department has deployed 184 doctors on the Yatra route including 44 specialist doctors. The department has also started a Cath lab in Srinagar Medical College. A travel-related SOP has also been issued in a total of 11 languages. In order to address the problems of pilgrims on the spot, Raturi instructed the officials to take immediate appropriate action on the complaint of any devotee that they receive on their mobile phones. She directed them to keep their mobiles on all the time and compulsorily listen to the pilgrims’ complaints. She also said that the respective in-charge secretaries deployed in districts will regularly monitor the Yatra from the Secretariat itself through the respective district administrations and district magistrates and will take necessary actions by coordinating with the departments concerned.
