The Uttarakhand government is contemplating a plan to constitute a Yatra Authority for efficient management and operation of various Yatras being conducted within the State including Char Dham Yatra, Kanwad Yatra and Purnagiri Yatra. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this while reviewing the Char Dham Yatra arrangements virtually from New Delhi on Saturday. He said that the number of pilgrims in the Char Dham Yatra will increase further in future and for efficient management the setting up of Yatra Authority should be considered. In the meeting he gave instructions to make the Char Dham online registration system more effective. Dhami said that it is collective responsibility to ensure that every devotee coming to the State for Char Dham Yatra is able to have Darshan of the deities.
He directed the officers to always be in alert mode regarding the Yatra. He said that the number of toilets should be increased along with all the basic facilities at the holding points of pilgrims. Dhami said that in case of overcrowding, alternative routes should be considered for movement of vehicles. He instructed the officials to undertake regular sanitation campaigns on the Yatra route.
In view of upcoming holidays and weekends and expected increase in the number of pilgrims the CM directed the officers to make necessary preparations.
He instructed the district magistrates and administrations of Haridwar, Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts to work in mutual coordination for a smooth Yatra. He said that all the officers should go to the ground and take feedback from the devotees so that even small shortcomings can be removed in time.
Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana told the CM that 13,000 devotees visited Badrinath Dham on Friday. He added that he has inspected preparation for Hemkund Sahib Yatra on foot. The Uttarkashi DM Meharban Singh Bisht said that 15,800 pilgrims visited Yamunotri Dham on Friday and devotees are continuously being sent to Yamunotri and Gangotri through the gate system.
