Chief secretary Radha Raturi has said that technology will give maximum help in better management of Char Dham Yatra and offer permanent solution for the problems of the pilgrims. The CS visited the Yatra registration office and transit camp in Rishikesh on Tuesday. She also interacted with the officers working on the field for the SOPs to be made for Yatra management. She directed the officials related to Char Dham Yatra management to take the help of a reputed IT consultancy company to develop a permanent system of foolproof online registration for the devotees visiting all the religious places of the state along with the Char Dham Yatra.
She said that help of every stakeholders associated with Char Dham Yatra, including hoteliers, tour operators, people associated with tourism and administrative officials should be taken in the initiative. The CS said that the Char Dham Yatra in the state is being conducted smoothly, systematically and successfully after some challenges in the beginning. At present about 3,000 devotees are present at the holding points of Rishikesh and Haridwar, who are being sent to the Dhams in groups. To deal with the ever increasing number of the pilgrims in future, Raturi directed the district magistrates to identify new holding places and develop parking places in their respective districts. The CS also directed to make a correct assessment of the carrying capacity of vehicles and parking places on the Yatra route. In the meeting Raturi also directed the officers that the trip card system should be strictly followed. She added that the cooperation of national tour operators for the successful conduct of Char Dham Yatra should be taken in future. The CS also directed the officers to coordinate and communicate with the DMs and district administration of the districts of the from where most of the pilgrims come to Char Dham Yatra. The Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, DMs of Dehradun and Tehri, SSP of Tehri and officials related to Yatra attended the meeting.
