The Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital administration has constituted a provisional four-member team to educate and register patients on the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) app within the hospital premises.
Stating this on Wednesday, the medical superintendent of GDMC hospital, Dr Anurag Aggarwal said that the ABHA app project has been in operation in the hospital for the last two years. “Patients are obliged to register on the app upon visiting the hospital, furnishing details about their medical conditions, illnesses and personal information,” he added.
He further said that since the launching of the ABHA app initiative, its usage by patients is far from what they had expected. “A miniscule number of people have registered until last month. To reverse this trend and also to improve crowd management, the hospital administration has recently started a temporary counter for online registration. Additionally, a four-member team comprising a PRO, an Ayushman official, a guard and a registration staffer has been formed. This team will assist in registering patients on the ABHA app and raise awareness among other patients so that they do the same,” he said.
Aggarwal further stated that the team for the ABHA app has started operating at the hospital last week. “Since then 500 patients have been registering every day. This marks a significant increase from the previous 10 to 15 patients. With patients increasingly registering on the ABHA app, the hospital will be able to gather demographic data as well as information on the cause, reasons and mapping of patients’ diseases,” he said and added that once the model code of conduct ends, the hospital administration would constitute a permanent team to register patients at the ABHA app.
Notably, the deputy medical superintendent at GDMC, Dr Dhananjay Dobhal earlier informed that the State health agency had instructed the hospital administration to put in place a dedicated team for registering visiting patients through the app at the hospital.
