The Haridwar municipal commissioner Varun Chaudhary has directed the officials to act against those organisations dumping biomedical waste in the open and in regular garbage through the corporation’s door to door garbage collection service. He stated this after observing biomedical waste in the garbage processing plant of the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) located at Sarai village in the Jwalapur area during an inspection on Thursday. He observed the biomedical waste in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the plant during the segregation process of the garbage. He directed the officials of the plant to refrain from collecting biomedical waste, identify those dumping such waste and to take strict action against them.  After this, the commissioner also talked to the locals who informed him that they often have to face water logging in monsoon due to accumulated garbage in the plant. Considering this, he directed the officials operating the plant to work on the disposal of the old accumulated garbage before the onset of the monsoon to ensure locals do not have to face inconvenience during the rains. The corporation will take strict action against those who fail to abide by the orders, he added.
