STF arrests notorious criminal wanted in three States

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a notorious criminal wanted in three States for robbery and murder cases from Delhi. At least 38 cases of robbery, theft and murder are registered against him in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the senior superintendent of police of STF Ayush Agrawal said. He informed that the accused Sagir belongs to Rampur in UP and 30 cases of robberies, theft and murders are registered against him in Delhi in addition to seven cases in Moradabad and Rampur districts of UP. The accused along with his accomplice had also allegedly robbed a man in broad daylight in Bajpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district on March 11, 2023. They robbed the victim of Rs 50,000 cash, his wallet and his mobile phone. The SSP said that the Delhi and UP police had also been searching for Sagir for the past several months. The Moradabad police and Udham Singh Nagar police had also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest. The Uttarakhand STF received confidential information about him hiding in Delhi about 10 days ago. The STF team reached Delhi and gathered information about the accused for several days and finally arrested him from Delhi’s Babu Nagar in the Mustafabad area late on Saturday. Agrawal said that Sagir had been living in disguise to avoid being arrested by the police for the past several months. The police are investigating him and further action will be taken accordingly, he added.
