The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the party is fully prepared to prevent any irregularity in counting of votes on June 4. Interacting with the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan on Monday he said that the party has given training to all its polling agents. The agents will demand that the form 17 C (given on the day of voting) should be matched with EVMs randomly. The agents will give a written complaint of any discrepancy to the returning officer (RO) concerned. He said that a control room has been set up in the Congress headquarters to keep an eye on the counting process.
Mahara claimed that there is a difference of 1,170 votes in the data of total votes cast provided by the district election office and Election Commission of India in Almora Lok Sabha constituency. He said that the issue is very serious because the manner in which the voting percentage was increased by the ECI, 11 days after the voting, has created doubts in the minds of people.
Taking a dig at the exit poll findings aired by different news channels, Mahara said that many discrepancies are glaring in the exit polls which clearly reflect the haste. He said that one news channel gave 16 to 19 seats to BJP in Haryana where there are only 10 LS seats. Another poll gave six to eight seats to LJP in Bihar but the fact is that it contested only five seats. He claimed that the INDI Alliance is all set to win 295 seats and form the next government at centre. General secretary Navin Joshi, spokesperson Sheeshpal Singh Bisht, Vikas Negi, Prem Baukhandi and Rajneesh Juyal were present on the occasion.
