Rain & thunderstorms to bring relief today as temperatures rise again

The maximum temperatures in Dehradun and some other locations in the plains rose close to 40 degrees Celsius again on Tuesday. However, some relief is forecast today with light to moderate rain forecast in the provisional State capital and other parts of the State. The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in the mountainous districts and at few places in the plain districts of the State. Surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty during the daytime in the plains. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/squall (50-60 kmph) and intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts and thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/squall (50-60 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the plain districts on Wednesday.
Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/squall (50-60 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 39.5 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39.6 degrees Celsius and 23.9 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.3 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.2 degrees Celsius and 13.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in some places with 20.5 millimetres in Agastyamuni, 19 millimetres in Jakholi, seven millimetres in Pithoragarh and 2.5 millimetres in Ukhimath.
