The chief executive officer of Century Pulp & Paper Ajay Kumar Gupta said while inaugurating the World Environment Day programme that a target has been set by his company to plant one crore trees this year. A tree plantation programme was launched at Mangal Dham to mark the day. In the programme, another senior functionary of the company Naresh Chandra informed that 52.97 lakh trees had been planted last year and this year one crore trees are set to be planted. He also spoke about global warming, greenhouse effect, deforestation, soil erosion and habitat fragmentation.
