In latest news from Uttarakhand, taking lessons from last year’s monsoon mayhem in the State and Haridwar district in particular, the Uttarakhand government has tightened its belt before the rainy season arrives. The State irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj who is also the in-charge minister for Haridwar district chaired a meeting focused on flood control and mitigation initiatives in Haridwar district.
The minister is said to have directed the officers concerned to be pro-active to ensure that the State does not suffer the loss it had suffered during the rainy season last year.
