Almora MP Ajay Tamta sworn in as Union MoS

Monday, 10 JUNE 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Almora MP Ajay Tamta has found a place in the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He took the oath of office as a Union minister of State on Sunday evening. His inclusion in the government was welcomed by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttarakhand from where the party won all the five Lok Sabha seats. In the past, Tamta had served as the Union minister of State for Textiles from 2014 to 2019.

It is pertinent to mention here that Tamta has won for the third consecutive time from the Almora parliamentary constituency. According to observers, choosing him from among the five BJP MPs in Uttarakhand can be viewed as both a reward for the State for electing the party from all its Lok Sabha seats but also a step aimed at balancing perceived caste and regional equations.

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt have expressed happiness at Modi taking oath of office as the PM for the third consecutive time. They also thanked him for including Tamta as a Union MoS. Bhatt also congratulated Tamta on behalf of the party workers on the occasion. In a statement issued by the party on Bhatt’s behalf, the BJP State president said that with Modi taking oath of office as the PM yet again, the nation is moving decisively towards becoming a developed country. “The promises made by the BJP in its parliamentary election manifesto as Modi’s guarantee, the time for fulfilling which has now started. The coming five years are very important for the nation as the NDA government under PM Modi has to take major and strong decisions. The results of these decisions will take India among the group of developed nations. As with people across India, the people of Uttarakhand are also prepared to walk in step with the policies and decisions of the Modi 3.0 government,” he said. Bhatt appealed that the opposition should also rise above politics and come forward to cooperate in the efforts aimed at nation building.
